Quarter-mile race between 9 sports cars: it kicks off properly on Saturday

Motor Trend has lined up 9 coupés of every price and power level in a quarter-mile race on an abandoned airfield in California.

I like joint tests where the final verdict is a race. No half measures, no numbers and acceleration figures to bore you. This only happens when you line up 9 sports cars ranging from the 700-horsepower Lamborghini Aventador to the 200-horsepower Subaru BRZ, the “weakest” of the lot, as Motor Trend has recently done.

The final result, which I think is predictable, is shown using several cameras from different angles, which undoubtedly adds spice to the confrontation. It’s a pleasure to hear the engine sounds of each car: from the refined menu the Italians have to offer, to the calm (and unhurried) two-litre engine of the BRZ, passing through a whole barrage of power from different engines and configurations. You have the Lamborghini Aventador, Nissan GT-R Black Edition, Ford Shelby GT500, McLaren MP4-12C, Jaguar XKR-S, Porsche 911 Carrera S, Subaru BRZ, Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series and the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, after the jump.
