Range Rover Sport SVR: the wildest Land Rover has arrived

Land Rover had spent months teasing us with small hints, blurry images and suggestive videos of its new model.
At last, the folks at the British brand have officially unveiled the new Range Rover Sport SVR, the most sporty and performance-oriented version of the range.
In the words of the English manufacturer, the Range Rover Sport SVR becomes the most dynamic and sporty model the brand has ever created. We’re talking about a vehicle of very high performance, capable of giving a hard time to sporty cars with even greater ambitions.
Land Rover had long been looking for a high-performance TT with which to compete confidently against rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG or the Porsche Cayenne Turbo. At last, the brand has developed a very capable product of its own, which will surely give more than one headache to the executives at rival brands.

The SVR stands out from its siblings in the range thanks to a much bolder and sportier design. It’s clear that the SVR is the Range Rover least capable when it comes to off-road driving, which is logical if we consider its new, much lower bumpers, its redesigned sill protectors or its large alloy wheels fitted with high-performance asphalt tyres.
Inside, the atmosphere is 100% racing. The most striking feature is the seats, which become a kind of “semi-bucket” in both the front and rear seats. The finishes continue to come close to perfection, and it is now possible to combine the finest leather with aluminium trim that can optionally be made of carbon fibre.
Of course, a fundamental part of the SVR is its engine. For this very special version, the team at Land Rover has used all its resources, resulting in 550 CV extracted from the well-known supercharged 5.0 V8 engine. Maximum torque reaches 680 Nm, which, combined with an 8-speed automatic gearbox that transmits power through a permanent all-wheel-drive system, delivers jaw-dropping performance.

The Sport SVR can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, just like the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, the benchmark of the segment. Top speed is electronically limited to 260 km/h. As a reference, it completed a lap of the Nürburgring in 8 minutes and 14 seconds, a time worthy of genuine sports cars.
In addition to the engine, the SVR benefits from a specific tuning of both the steering and suspension, as well as an active rear differential calibrated exclusively for this version. The braking system has also been improved, all to deliver a driving experience on a par with the greats. The Range Rover Sport SVR will go on sale in a few weeks with a starting price of around 110,000 euros.
