Ranz is the new brand of Toyota in China

Like other brands, Toyota is going to found a Chinese brand to develop its operations in the Asian country. As a way of offering models dedicated especially to the Chinese market and at the same time “splitting” its operations between the cars bearing the Toyota logo and those sold in China, the Japanese giant has decided to register a new brand in that country, under the name Ranz.
Toyota currently manufactures and sells its Chinese models under the commercial agreement it has with FAW, an agreement that has already reached its tenth anniversary, one of the joint ventures with the most years in Asia. However, Ranz will go a little further, since it will be dedicated solely to hybrid or electric models.
For conventional and low-cost models, joint manufacturing with FAW is more than enough. With Ranz, Toyota will enter the market for alternative vehicles and has delegated to a local research and development studio the task of creating models that can attract sales in China.
Apparently, details of the models that will be built under the new brand are already known, which would be revealed during the Shanghai Auto Show. No further information has been given, but these models could be some adaptations of FAW-Toyota hybrid vehicles, before Ranz begins developing new models.
