Recall of the ¡McLaren Senna! and 3 other models from the brand
The recall of the McLaren Senna raises the alarm and covers nearly 2,800 vehicles from the British brand
Though it may seem hard to believe, the rich also cry, and their expensive cars also break down. That is why the wealthiest people may end up weeping as they watch the most expensive cars in the world, or the most expensive of the most expensive, suffer fires as if by some “spontaneous combustion” — as is the case with the recall of the McLaren Senna and other models from the brand due to fire risk.
That is how, on 23 April, the American agency National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, known by its acronym NHTSA, issued its warning. Its translation would be the office in charge of road traffic safety, which issues recall orders for vehicles at risk of suffering some kind of incident that could put the vehicle itself and, by extension, its occupants or other road users at risk.
Be that as it may, the NHTSA notice on the recall of the McLaren Senna — the spectacular hypercar capable of being the ultimate weapon on the track and a car you could also use to go buy bread on Sundays, since it was homologated for use on ordinary roads — also includes the McLaren 720S, McLaren GT and McLaren 570GT models.
According to the information this office holds, the foam installed beneath the fuel tank, which is used as insulation for it, can absorb moisture and, over time, may deteriorate, and that deterioration can affect the fuel tank itself. The progressive attack of corrosion could perforate the fuel tank and cause an uncontrolled release of flammable gases or liquids that could lead to combustion.
In total, 2,763 vehicles must be taken to authorised McLaren dealerships in the United States to fix a problem that could become genuinely dangerous; given the type of car and how some of these vehicles are used, resolving it as soon as possible is, for safety reasons, more than necessary.
