Record! Toyota sells more than 100,000 hybrid cars in two years

The Toyota group has sold more than 100,000 hybrid cars in our country over the last two years, a record figure that makes the Japanese manufacturer the leading benchmark when it comes to hybrid car sales.

Toyota and Lexus have already sold more than 200,000 hybrid cars in Spain since the first generation of the Toyota Prius went on sale in 2000, the first vehicle with hybrid technology from the Toyota group. Thanks to these figures, Toyota has made its range of electrified models the best-selling option in Spain: for Toyota they account for 80% of total vehicles sold, while for Lexus that percentage rises to 100%.

More than 100,000 hybrid cars sold in less than 2 years

In these 18 years, Toyota has sold 165,000 hybrid cars in our country, while Lexus has sold more than 35,000 units. However, the growth of Toyota’s electrified range has been exponential over the last two years, where it has gone from 100,000 units to more than 200,000 units, a real achievement that only the Japanese manufacturer can boast of in our country.

13 million hybrid cars from the Toyota group worldwide

In Europe, more than two million Toyota and Lexus hybrid electric vehicles have already been sold, a figure reached in September of this year, representing 47% of total sales of Toyota Motor Europe. Worldwide, almost 13 million Toyota and Lexus hybrid electric vehicles are already on the road.

Toyota hybrids enjoy the ECO label and its advantages

All Toyota hybrid electric vehicles are recognised, for their low emissions, with the ECO environmental badge, established by the Directorate-General for Traffic (DGT). The ECO label offers a series of advantages to vehicles with low polluting levels. Among the most notable benefits are the following:

• Circulate without traffic restrictions due to pollution
• 50% discount when parking in regulated zones (SER)
• Free access to the BUS – VAO lane
• Reduction in road tax
• Discounts on some tolls (especially in Barcelona).
