Recycled tyres in luxury cars? Bridgestone unveils the Potenza Sport A

Bridgestone, a global leader in manufacturing premium tyres that incorporate sustainable mobility solutions, has taken another step forward with the launch of the Potenza Sport A, a high-performance tyre that becomes the first in the company’s range to incorporate 55% recycled and renewable materials, earning the prestigious ISCC PLUS certification. This international certification recognises the transparency and traceability of sustainable raw materials throughout the entire production chain.

The Potenza Sport A is not only a demonstration of Bridgestone’s technical capability, but also a milestone in its commitment to sustainability. According to Steven De Bock, Vice President of Original Equipment at Bridgestone EMEA, “The Potenza Sport A is a great example of Bridgestone’s innovation and our commitment to the environment. This launch brings us closer to our goal of using 100% sustainable materials in our products by 2050.”

Developed with Bridgestone’s ENLITEN technology, the Potenza Sport A is designed to deliver optimal performance on electric vehicles without sacrificing safety or performance. The tyre has achieved an “A” rating on the European Union label for both wet grip and rolling resistance, which guarantees safe driving and superior energy efficiency. In addition, it directly contributes to increasing the battery’s range.

The Potenza Sport A is more than just a sustainable process: this new tyre has already been selected by Audi as original equipment for its new E-Tron GT, where it has already been tested and has amply demonstrated that it meets the demands of such a powerful vehicle.

It not only holds the ISCC PLUS certification, being produced at Bridgestone’s plant near Rome, Italy, but also holds the ISO 50001 certification for energy management. All production at this plant uses electricity generated exclusively from renewable sources, in line with the company’s E8 commitment.

The new Bridgestone Potenza Sport A is available in the following sizes, tailored to the needs of high-performance vehicles, especially those designed for electric models:

• Front: 265/35 R21 101XL Y

• Rear: 305/30 R21 104XL Y

These specifications ensure a perfect fit on vehicles such as the recently mentioned Audi E-Tron GT.
