Renault Estafette Concept: the future of electric commercial vehicles

The Estafette Concept brings back the essence of a classic from Renault, now transformed into a 100% electric and connected vehicle designed to meet the challenges of last-mile logistics and the energy transition

Renault has presented its vision of electric commercial vehicles with the Estafette Concept, a prototype that anticipates the path towards electrification and sustainable logistics. This innovative electric van, designed for urban mobility and developed in collaboration with the FlexEVan platform of the new company Flexis (an alliance between Renault, Volvo and CMA CGM), combines efficiency, cutting-edge technology and a design focused on the driver experience.

The Estafette Concept is not merely a reinterpretation of the iconic Renault model from 1959, but an evolution adapted to the current needs of urban transport. With a similar size to the Kangoo L2, yet the maneuverability of a Clio, its compact design allows agile driving in tight spaces, while its cargo capacity of 7.1 m³, comparable to that of a Renault Trafic, makes it an essential ally for last-mile logistics.

Designed specifically to make professionals’ work easier, the Estafette Concept has been developed based on feedback from drivers and workers in the sector. Renault has prioritized two fundamental aspects: the safety of the courier and the goods, and operational efficiency, minimizing delivery times and costs.

Practical and futuristic

With a length of 4.87 metres, a width of 1.92 metres and a height of 2.59 metres, the Estafette Concept offers a vertical silhouette that maximizes interior space. This allows drivers to move comfortably standing up inside the vehicle. The sliding doors, designed to open with a single gesture, make access easier and save time on every delivery. In addition, an innovative roll-up rear curtain allows direct loading from loading bays without obstacles.

Its exterior also features a visually appealing design. With a pop colour scheme, highlighted by its yellow roof over a grey body, the Estafette Concept radiates modernity and optimism on the streets. Design details such as the round headlights with 3D technology and the backlit logo of Renault reinforce its innovative character and strong brand identity.

Interior

The cabin is optimized for the driver, with a single ultra-ergonomic seat that allows easy transition from a driving position to standing to access the cargo area. A modular and technological instrument cluster includes a 12-inch screen and several touch interfaces that connect to the vehicle’s functions.

The integrated camera system and dashboard screens provide a panoramic rear view, improving safety and maneuverability in congested urban areas. Furthermore, its cargo area is designed to keep goods always protected and accessible in an efficient manner.

A 100% connected vehicle

The Estafette Concept is equipped with the SDV (Software Defined Vehicle) architecture of the FlexEVan platform, developed by Ampere. This advanced system enables real-time updates, predictive maintenance and a 30% reduction in operating costs. It also offers great modularity, allowing the vehicle to adapt to different configurations according to the needs of the driver or business fleets.

SDV technology is also key to the vehicle’s intelligence, as it allows the installation of new equipment and the integration of advanced services throughout its service life, which is essential in a world where demands for personalization and connectivity are growing exponentially.

The return of a classic

The Estafette Concept is a tribute to the original 1959 model, a vehicle that was a pioneer in its time by offering a front-engine architecture that maximized cargo space. Now, with its electric and highly connected version, Renault proposes a commercial mobility solution adapted to future challenges, where sustainability, efficiency and advanced technology converge.

It is expected that within two years this concept will become a production vehicle.
