Renault pays tribute to Le Corbusier with this Coupé Corbusier Concept

The union of the world of the automotive industry and culture and art is very close. Car designers strive to integrate certain cultural and artistic movements into the cars they create. With that intention, and to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the death of the architect Le Corbusier, a champion of the so-called Art Deco style, Renault has wanted to pay tribute to his work.
The car seeks to revive that design style, which was very prominent in the country during the interwar period. This architectural style is characterised by the use of bright colours, geometric shapes and abundant ornamentation. Le Corbusier was one of its greatest exponents and a representative of the French school of this style. The Centre des Monuments Nationaux has organised an exhibition called: “Cars to live: the automobile and modernism in the 20th and 21st centuries“.
The Coupé Corbusier Concept has a design that draws on the cars of the 1920s and 1930s, but introduces modern, contemporary elements to give it a futuristic look, just as the Art Deco style did, which also used a futuristic image in its designs.

To remain faithful to the modernist style, the designers of Renault have used a geometric structure as the basis, though with lavish details such as the grille, which stands out on a spectacular front end. The design of this concept car continues the line used by the famous French architect before the Second World War in France.
I imagine this model, at the very least, will have caught your attention. Unfortunately, it is a show car, so it will not go into production. Nor is it a car that uses technological innovations that could later be used in a production car; it will remain a spectacular vehicle, but only to be exhibited, and as a design exercise. A shame, isn’t it?
