Renault has announced the launch of a new body style for its most important saloon in recent years, the Talisman.

Designed to replace both the Laguna and the Latitude, the new Talisman now presents its second body style, the estate, with a very attractive look.

The Talisman Sport Tourer -as it will be called in our market- arrives with its intentions very clear. The exterior design of the Talisman Sport Tourer stands out for its refinement. Without a doubt it is one of the most attractive estates in its segment, something worth mentioning that will help it compete with rivals such as the VW Passat.

The differences compared with the saloon body are evident from the B-pillar onwards, where we find a less pronounced roofline drop. The rear is very well resolved, with a window slightly smaller than the door window, which together with wide rear quarters gives a sense of robustness.

Inside, there are no changes except an improvement in rear-seat headroom and legroom. Headroom for the head is expected to be more than remarkable. The minimum boot volume rises to 572 litres, offering a maximum volume -with the seats folded- of 1,700 litres.

The range of engines for the Talisman Sport Tourer is the same as for the saloon, with diesel engines of 110, 130 and 160 CV, the latter being the most advanced unit with twin-turbo supercharging and a 1.6-litre displacement. Two TCe petrol units with 150 and 200 CV will be offered.

The transmissions, always driving the front axle, will be six-speed manual and seven-speed automatic dual-clutch. For the 160 CV twin-turbo diesel variant Renault is working on an automatic dual-clutch gearbox with six ratios.
