Renault unveils two new Energy engines for the Kangoo

Renault expands the range of Energy diesel engines, which will be offered in the Kangoo range and which we will see at the Geneva Motor Show. The French brand’s offering of these engines now rises to seven, complementing those already offered in the Scenic and Megane, two of which, the dCi130 and dCi110, we have already seen on the occasion of the launch of the new Megane in Spain.

The new additions boast increasingly low consumption and ultra-low emissions for this type of powertrain. According to Renault, the Energy dCi 90 and dCi 75 will have consumption of 4.4 l/100 km, with emissions of 115 g of CO2/km. Oil changes have been extended to intervals of 40,000 km, which places these engines among the most economical in terms of maintenance.

The work the engineers have done on both engines not only follows the same line as the dCi130 and dCi110 powerplants, but solutions used in those same engines have also been applied to reduce friction in the internal components. Electronic systems have also been employed, such as ESM (Energy Smart Management), an energy recovery system, in addition to the inclusion of Stop&Start, which only shuts off the engine when driving below 4 km/h, and some minor changes that contribute to driving comfort, such as the reduced rotation of the electric fan when the car is stopped.

One of the models that will be shown in Geneva will be the Kangoo dCi 90, which will go on sale in March in France, while the 75-horsepower variant will debut the following month in the French market. We hope that in coming months this engine range will be added to the Spanish offering.
