'Rescue Sheet', technical information about your car useful in the event of an accident

Correctly assessing the situation and acting appropriately within minutes is key to mitigating, as far as possible, the consequences of a serious road accident. The experience and training of emergency services are essential in this type of situation, but drivers can also do their part with simple gestures such as those promoted by the ‘Rescue Sheets’.
This project, promoted by RACC and the Generalitat de Catalunya, aims to allow emergency services to know the technical characteristics of the vehicle they must work on, so that the time needed to reach and treat the injured is reduced. The ‘Rescue Sheet’ contains technical information showing where the airbags charges are located, the position of the fuel tank, or the best points for cutting the bodywork.

Manufacturers have been publishing these rescue sheets, which follow a standard format valid throughout Europe. To download one, you can go to the RACC website and look for your car’s sheet. It is recommended to print this sheet and place it on the sun visor above the steering wheel. Emergency services also have access to these sheets so they can study them, and they may carry them printed or on a tablet, but if they do not have them at a given moment, they can check the sun visor and, if they find one, save time.
After reviewing the RACC website, we realised that the links for some brands do not work or lead to generic manufacturer websites, so if you cannot find your vehicle’s sheet, you can request it from the manufacturer to print, or perhaps the dealerships can also lend you a hand.
