Retro Clásica Bilbao 2012 opens its doors starting next Friday

On Friday the 23rd, the second edition of Retro Clásica Bilbao 2012 – the Fair for Classic, Vintage and Collectible Vehicles – gets underway at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre, with the participation of 160 national and international exhibitors. This year it will feature more than 20,000 square metres of space, dedicated to the commercial display of classic and vintage cars and motorcycles, an area for accessories, spare parts and add-ons, a space for clubs, and an area for parallel activities.
The Club del Automóvil Clásico de Euskadi will showcase a magnificent collection of MG, a Ferrari Dino, a Alfa Romeo Montreal and an AC Cobra, among other vehicles. The Galician tuner Marvic will display some gems from the world of competition, such as the Renault 5 Maxi Turbo (once owned by Jean Ragnotti), the Metro 6R4, the Escort MKI, or the Porsche 911T RSR.
The fair will also feature a dedicated area for racing teams, where the most sporting side of the two- and four-wheel world will be on show, and which will form part of the IV Rally BCR Berriatua route on Saturday the 24th. As parallel activities, several vehicle gatherings will be held, featuring sports cars Porsche, various models of Seat and Renault, American vehicles, the Volkswagen Beetle, spectacular Harley Davidsons and classic Citroëns.
Over the three days of the fair, numerous activities will take place, among which stands out the
tribute to the legendary Renault Alpine, as this year marks half a century since its presentation at the Paris Motor Show of 1962. Retro Clásica will dedicate a stand to this emblematic car, created by French rally driver Jean Redele based on the Renault 4CV.
The beloved Goggomobil also turns 50 in 2012, a microcar manufactured in Mungia from 1962, which enthusiasts already had the chance to admire at the first edition of the Retro Clásica fair. This year two new cars will be exhibited, one red and one grey, both commercial models. The Goggomobils will be joined by two other microcars, an BMW Isetta and a Biscúter, and a Honda C-10 motorcycle manufactured in Mungia, the first made in our country under license from the Japanese firm.
