Rolls-Royce announces the launch of a limited-edition electric convertible

With this project, Rolls-Royce once again demonstrates its ability to blend traditional craftsmanship, technological innovation and extreme exclusivity in a car that promises to become a modern legend.

Rolls-Royce has just unveiled Project Nightingale, a spectacular two-seat electric convertible that redefines the limits of luxury within its segment. Measuring 5.76 metres in length, this exclusive model will be built only by invitation and in a limited run of just one hundred units worldwide, with first deliveries scheduled from 2028.

This is not, however, the first electric model from the British manufacturer, as that honour belongs to the Spectre, a fully electric coupé that shares its platform and many components with the BMW i7.

As for the Project Nightingale, Rolls-Royce has preferred not to go into detail about its technical specifications and, for the time being, has limited itself to highlighting the calm and silence of motion provided by its electric powertrain. As is customary for the British brand, the focus is not on the power of its drivetrain or the capacity of its battery pack, but on the experience it offers to the occupants of the vehicle.

A unique vehicle that only Rolls-Royce can offer

Rolls-Royce places particular emphasis on the qualities of this model’s electric powertrain. Its absolute silence and smooth delivery of power take refinement a step further, the very quality that has defined Rolls-Royce for more than a century. This technology also opens up new design possibilities that would be impossible with traditional combustion engines.

The exterior design of the Project Nightingale evokes the glamour and elegance of the 1920s and 1930s, yet with a thoroughly contemporary character. The British manufacturer assures that development is already well advanced: the body design is practically finalised and only a few details remain, which call for new manufacturing techniques currently being finalised.

It should also be noted that the name Project Nightingale refers to “Le Rossignol” -French for nightingale-, the name of the house where designers and engineers worked, located near Henry Royce’s winter residence on the Côte d’Azur.

“Some of our most demanding clients asked us for our boldest work. We responded by combining three elements that had never before coexisted in our brand: total freedom in the handcrafted creation of the body, our powerful and silent electric powertrain, and a unique expression of open-top driving, serene yet intense. Only this technology makes it possible. Project Nightingale shares the experimental spirit of the EX cars that Sir Henry Royce created in the 1920s, and represents the most extravagant expression of what Rolls-Royce can offer today.”
