Rolls-Royce Ghost Ékleipsis: the beauty of an eclipse and the art of Rolls-Royce fused into one car
The art of light and darkness and the beauty of an eclipse come together in an exclusive automobile born from the luxury marque Rolls-Royce

In a fusion never seen before, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars once again dazzles the world by unveiling its private collection Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis, an automotive masterpiece limited to just 25 examples, which seeks to represent in its design the mystery and beauty of a solar eclipse, taking the interplay of light and darkness to new heights, as if it were a celestial recreation.
The basis for this masterpiece is the Rolls-Royce Ghost, based on and represented in the same spirit as the Black Badge. A perfect canvas for the Bespoke Collective of Rolls-Royce, who have found in the wonder of the eclipse the perfect inspiration for an exceptional automobile. The launch of this collection coincides with an annular solar eclipse visible in certain parts of the Western Hemisphere on 14 October, a reminder of the stunning connection between the universe and precision engineering.
The Bespoke finish outshines any comparison
The exterior of the Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis takes luxury to another level with the striking Bespoke finish in the Lyrical Copper colour. This car incorporates powdered copper pigment, which darkens as it captures light, producing a rich and dramatic iridescence. Mandarin details adorn the inserts beneath the Pantheon grille and the brake calipers, evoking the pulses of sunlight during an eclipse.
The hand-painted coachline, in the same mandarin tone, offers an abstract representation of the transition from sunlight to darkness, just as when the Moon glides across to cover the Sun.

The customised Starlight headliner is a true technical and artistic marvel that attends to every detail. When the doors are closed and the engine is started, the “stars” in the Starlight Headliner darken and a sequence begins that replicates the totality of the solar eclipse. A ring of 940 “stars” represents the bright corona of light around the lunar silhouette, while another 192 luminous “stars” recreate the phenomenon of stars visible in broad daylight, something that only occurs during a total solar eclipse. This fascinating animation remains visible for exactly seven minutes and 31 seconds, the maximum duration of a total solar eclipse, before returning to the night-time setting.

A “starry” fascia with a pure diamond
The illuminated fascia of the Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis is a true work of art in which 1,846 “stars” laser-engraved appear along a symbolic timeline of a total eclipse. Each of these “stars” was meticulously adjusted by a Bespoke designer, a process that took more than 100 hours. The focal point of this composition is a Bespoke clock with a 0.5-carat brilliant-cut diamond, evoking the ‘Diamond Ring’ effect seen just before and immediately after the sun is obscured. The integration of this precious gem into the clock’s bezel is a first in the history of Rolls-Royce, and it has passed rigorous adhesion tests to guarantee its safety.

An interior evocative of twilight
During the totality of a solar eclipse, a golden twilight surrounds those observing it, creating the illusion of a 360-degree sunset. This is what they sought to capture in the Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis: these elements are reflected in unique two-tone seats with a perforated artwork composed of more than 200,000 individual perforations, which capture the essence of this astronomical phenomenon.

In short, the Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis is a tribute to the art of light and darkness, a vehicle that fuses the precision of engineering with the majesty of a solar eclipse. With only 25 examples available, this private collection stands as a testament to Rolls-Royce’s unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation in the world of automotive luxury.
