Saleen Automotive reinvents itself and promises new models

Steve Saleen is one of the most influential figures among American tuners, and rightly so. For years, his modifications based on the Ford Mustang and his legendary career in motorsport, starting practically from scratch, earned him a reputation that helped him amass a small fortune, in addition to being inducted into the Ford Mustang Hall of Fame, alongside another great such as Carroll Shelby.
For some years now Steve Saleen had distanced himself from his own company, founding SMS Signature Cars, dedicated to customising American classics. The latest announcement seemed likely to bring about the fall of Saleen Automotive, since they were abandoning modifications to the Mustang, which had brought him so much fame.
However, Saleen has returned to his roots. After Saleen Automotive and other companies in the group faced bankruptcy filings and many financial difficulties, Saleen has decided to revive his first company, merging SMS with what remained of Saleen Automotive. The promised result will be a new line of accessories, modifications, special parts and preparations, and it also announces a successor to the Saleen S7, his most famous car.
Saleen has also dared to announce electric cars that will arrive in the future. The press release did not lack a “high-performance electric car” or a mention of a “zero-emissions car”. It is very likely that Saleen will be able to continue building sports cars of the calibre of the Saleen S5S Raptor or the S7, and we do not doubt that it will carry out its electric car plans despite past financial problems; the name Saleen alone will surely serve to attract many investors. We will see what Saleen has in store for us in the future.
