Say hello to the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera: the British firm's new bet

Aston Martin has just unveiled the acclaimed DBS Superleggera, the most radical version of the DB11. Under its skin it hides a supercharged V12 producing more than 700 CV.

The revival of certain surnames in the automotive world has led to the creation of contemporary models that are just as special as those they succeed. Aston Martin has done the same with the Superleggera name, which has been applied to the new DBS to give it both aesthetic and mechanical qualities ready to make history. The English firm has just presented its latest creation, which arrives to rival the most recent supercars and try to surpass them in every respect.

This iconic name first appeared on the tail of a Aston Martin in 1967, an event that marked a before and after in automotive history. More than 50 years after that first appearance, the British firm has decided to revive the name on the DBS, a model that arrives to dominate the supercar segment.

Let us recall that the DBS Superleggera is presented as the sportiest and lightest version of the DB11, a model that has marked a new era within the British firm. However, Aston Martin wanted to go much further, which is why we can see changes both on the exterior and in the mechanics. Thanks to this new addition, the brand fully enters the Super GT market, where the DBS will compete fiercely and will not make things easy for its rivals.

Aesthetically, we can see how Aston Martin has applied bold modifications compared with the model it is based on. First of all, there is a new front end, which adopts a more classic design language and unleashes the spirit that the Superleggera name conveys. We find more rounded, softer headlights, but they keep their sporty character intact, which is accentuated even further by its mechanics.

The rear remains more faithful to the design of the Aston Martin DB11, where we can see similar headlights but a more pronounced and muscular diffuser. The same happens with the front grille, which opens up much more in order to cool its powerful heart. This is because Aston Martin has decided to fit a powerful supercharged 5.2-litre V12 capable of producing 725 CV of power and 900 Nm of torque.

Thanks to this engine, the reduced weight and the improved aerodynamics, the Aston Martin DBS is able to reach 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 340 km/h. Exclusivity and sportiness ooze from every side of this new creation by the British firm, and this is also reflected in its price. The new Aston Martin DBS Superleggera will be available in Germany from EUR 274,995.
