Seat takes the Ibiza estate forward with the Concept IBZ

The Spanish carmaker will be showing this week at the Frankfurt Motor Show a concept model of the estate Ibiza that it will present next year at the Geneva Motor Show. The prototype is called Concept IBZ and, despite certain details typical of its vehicle category, its structural features will be the same as those seen in the definitive version.

Aesthetically, the Concept IBZ differs from the production Ibiza in its front bumper with a larger air intake, LED headlights, a redesigned grille with a honeycomb pattern, the bonnet dividing line, widened wheel arches and exclusive alloy wheels measuring 19 inches. From the B-pillar onwards, it could be said that everything is new, since it is where the car becomes a family vehicle. Unlike other models such as the Renault Clio Grand Tour, the Concept IBZ resolves the drop at the rear very well, with much smoother and more attractive lines, without losing the sporty touch that Seat applies to several of its products.

The wide boot opening is framed by thin yet elegant rear light clusters, and the bumper features specific diamond-shaped exhaust outlets. Furthermore, other features of this concept, which could well make it to the production model, are the rear door handles, which are wider, integrated into the C-pillar and inherited from the León, as well as the large panoramic roof that starts at the edge of the windscreen and reaches just short of the rear window, which adds a great deal of brightness to the cabin.

The latter is covered in higher-quality materials than usual and features some exclusive finishes and distinctive lighting that give it a more futuristic feel, typical of a concept model. The air vents, instrumentation and steering wheel design, although of slimmer profile, are almost identical to those of a standard Ibiza. On the other hand, the newly designed seats and the “Magnolia” leather and suede upholstery give the vehicle a more elegant and luminous appearance.

The boot, a very important feature of this version, offers 410 litres of capacity, expandable when the rear seats are folded down, with a 60/40 split, as well as various storage compartments and solutions such as side hooks and nets to secure items. Likewise, there is more space under the boot floor which, in the case of the Concept IBZ, is lined in leather, also in “Magnolia” colour. Seat also stands out for its low loading height, which will make it easier to place items inside.

The dimensions of the Concept IBZ differ from a conventional Ibiza only in its length, which increases to 4.22 metres. Finally, Seat hopes to start selling the definitive estate Ibiza by mid next year. We leave you with the images of the concept:
