Seat will have an SUV in 2015

Seat wants to try its luck in the SUV segment, getting down to work to have one within the segment of the Volkswagen Tiguan and the Nissan Qashqai in its 2015 range.

It seems that the SUV market is something that interests all brands. Now it is Seat’s turn to try its luck in this segment, getting down to work to have an SUV in its 2015 range. This has been confirmed by James Muir, president of the Martorell firm, to Autocar:

We will build an SUV as quickly as we can. After the concept from two years ago, it will reach the market in a short period of time

This new Seat car will be within the segment of the Volkswagen Tiguan and the Nissan Qashqai. It will be inspired by the IBX concept that Seat presented more than a year ago at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. With the aim of expanding a market share that is mainly focused on the León and the Ibiza, Seat expects this new SUV to sell around 100,000 units worldwide.

At this moment we know nothing more about this new car that the Spanish brand is preparing. What we can assure you is that the project already has its investment planned, as Muir himself has said:

We have already signed the agreement with the heads of the Volkswagen Group. The investment is also planned

A small SUV too

Although it is still more of a dream than anything else, Seat also plans to launch a small SUV based on the Mii and closely linked to the Volkswagen Taigun. But, according to Muir himself, “It is still in the clouds, but it will arrive”
