Škoda adds the 1.4 TSI to the Yeti Green Tec

The petrol alternative keeps the same equipment and offers slightly higher consumption and emissions, but it is considerably cheaper than the Diesel that was already available.

The Czech brand faces the same situation as other divisions of the Volkswagen Group: one green label is not enough, it needs two. First came the Yeti Greenline, the most “eco-friendly” version, and then the Green Tec, less environmentally friendly than the former but “greener” than the standard versions. Until now, the latter was only available in our country with the 2.0 TDI CR 140 CV engine, but Škoda has already confirmed another option that is being gradually introduced across Europe.

This is the turbocharged 1.4 TSI engine, which produces 122 CV. It is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox and returns an average consumption of 6.4 litres per 100 km (compared with 5.1 for the 2.0 TDI engine) and CO2 emissions of 148 grams per kilometre (14 more than with the Diesel alternative). Although these figures are higher than those of the other engine, the idea is that customers can choose between the two fuels according to their preferences.

The version’s specific equipment remains identical to the other Yeti Green Tec and includes the Stop&Start system, low-profile tyres and regenerative braking. From there, there are the same two equipment levels. The base one, the Active, offers central locking with remote control, air conditioning and a radio with CD and MP3 player.

The other is the Ambition, which adds automatic climate control, fog lights and a multifunction steering wheel. Although Škoda has not announced prices for the Yeti Green Tec with this engine for Spain, the price difference with the Diesel in other countries is between 5,000 and 6,000 euros less.
