Skoda previews the new Octavia

Skoda has released some images of the new Octavia, ahead of the official presentation due in a few days. A faithful example of the new MQB platform from Volkswagen, the Octavia will feature some aesthetic novelties that bring it closer to the Rapid, along with the aim of giving the Octavia better finishes than previous models.
Details on the new Octavia are still scarce, but we can get an idea of what to expect. The rear light clusters have taken on the shape of a letter C, just like the Skoda Rapid, traversed by LED lighting. The grille is almost similar to that of the Rapid, while the line of the windows on the rear doors will rise noticeably.

Inside, the dashboard and much of the cabin appear to feature better materials and more elaborate finishes, a commitment from Skoda to the new versions of the Octavia, which will sit as the intermediate choice between the Rapid and the Superb, so the Octavia would have to raise its final price.

As for engines, the familiar 1.4 with 138 hp and the 1.6-litre TDI diesel would be integrated, already seen and thoroughly tested previously in the Volkswagen and Audi ranges. The vRS version will probably arrive around mid-2013, with 220 hp.
