The German company announced a new electric generation of the Smart Fortwo. This new model will feature a motor, installed at the rear, with 30 kW or 41 CV of power and a torque of 120 Nm, powered by a lithium-ion battery.

This lithium battery can be charged from any standard 220-volt socket. Additionally, a three-hour charge is enough to cover between 30 and 40 km, while a full charge will give us a range of about 115 kilometres.

All of this means it accelerates from 0 to 60 km/h in 6.5 seconds, while its top speed is limited to 100 km/h. As for production, the first units will begin to be built in November, and will be destined only for customers in Berlin and other cities in Europe and the USA. However, starting in 2012 it will enter serial production and will be available to anyone interested.
