The Ministry of Industry has taken a new step to bring the electric car to Spain. At the Council of Ministers meeting, new aid has been approved to boost the purchase of an electric car, starting with a government subsidy that could reach 25% of the vehicle’s price -before taxes-, with a maximum aid of €6,000.

In total, the Ministry of Industry will allocate €72 million to direct subsidies for the purchase of electric cars, including a special subsidy for buses or coaches. This aid for public transport vehicles would be 25% of the gross purchase price, with a maximum of €15,000 or €30,000, depending on the type of vehicle and range.

Legislation has also been passed on a new figure that will become part of Spain’s future electric mobility landscape: the charge manager, a third party that will be able to resell electricity for charging electric vehicles and that will facilitate the installation of charging points by third parties, outside of the electricity companies.

So don’t expect the price of electricity for automotive use to remain stable, with intermediaries on the horizon.
