Spotted: the Alfa Romeo (Kamal) SUV

At last a photo has appeared that confirms the project of an SUV for the Italian brand. The rumour that Alfa Romeo Kamal had been presented at the 2003 Geneva Motor Show had never been confirmed: that an SUV for the Italian brand would go into production. But it seems that an employee at Elasis (Pomigliano), one of the subsidiaries of Fiat responsible for R&D, has taken several photos of the Kamal (assuming the name is kept).

Furthermore, from the spy photos we can deduce that the car is at an advanced stage of production and could be ready to be presented at any moment. In fact, if we look more closely at the front, the tail lights bear great similarity to those of the new Fiat Grande Punto, and the side profile with the rear door handles integrated into the window frame reminds us of the Giulietta or the earlier 147.

For the moment it is too early to know whether it will reach production or whether it is a test mule, but should it go into production its presentation is around the corner and, according to rumour, it could arrive as early as next year. I don’t know about you, but I am still getting used to the idea of seeing a Alfa Romeo SUV.
