Spy photos of the next Lexus GX

The Lexus mid-size SUV from the North American range is set for a renewal very soon, as the current generation has been on sale since 2003 and is due an update. In fact, since it is based on the Land Cruiser Prado (known simply as the Land Cruiser in most markets), which also has its next generation about to go on sale, the Lexus GX should arrive shortly after its Toyota twin.

The unit caught by the MotorAuthority spy photographers is heavily camouflaged, but the transparent areas show that the vehicle is practically finished. The design does not differ much from the look of the Toyota Land Cruiser, and only details such as the front fog lights or the front grille are slightly different on the Lexus.

In addition to the exterior refresh, the interior will receive higher-quality materials and a new navigation system, which will come as standard on all versions. As for the engines, the old 4.7 V8 with 263 horsepower will be replaced by the same 4.6 V8 with 310 horsepower fitted to the new Tundra 2010. Given this, it is deduced that the model will be called GX 460.

Although there is no official announcement yet, given the advanced state of development of this model, its presentation can be expected at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November of this year, with subsequent sales as a 2010 model. The images follow below:
