In this case, it matters little or not at all that the test mule you see on screen is based on the 6th-generation version, because what matters here is what we will discuss next: the simple fact that Volkswagen is already starting to test the Volkswagen Golf GTI MKVII
On the other hand, we cannot fail to mention a second test mule (both run together) in which Volkswagen is testing a vehicle far more special than the GTI, namely the next generation of its imposing Golf R. You can tell them apart mainly by their exhausts, since one of them features a double outlet on each side of the diffuser.
As you surely know, especially if you are a devoted fan of the Golf model, the next generation, barring any considerable delays, will be presented in late 2012 or early 2013 and, as we already know, it will once again be based on the famous transverse modular architecture better known as MQB.
Two unique vehicles will be launched on this platform. The first, the Golf GTI, will once again feature a new 2.0 TSI with a final output that should be around 220-230 horsepower, while in the Golf R the power will rise to 300 horsepower, power that, once again, will be “kept under control” thanks to 4Motion all-wheel drive.
