Spyker renews its SUV plans and announces them at the Geneva Motor Show

2006 Spyker D12 Peking to Paris

Following the Spyker B6 Venator, the Dutch brand remains determined to complete its revived range with an SUV. Although news of the Spyker SUV was already well known through the D8 Paris-to-Peking concept, it is now that the company intends to put it into production, thanks to the funds that the Chinese firm Youngman has provided to the brand.

According to what Edmunds has reported from the Geneva Motor Show, Spyker will keep the C8 Aileron as the most important model in its range, followed by the SUV and the production B6 Venator. Plans for the SUV will begin with its future unveiling next year and its sale in 2016.

While the D8 Paris-to-Pekin was a somewhat unconventional SUV, with the rather extravagant lines that Spyker gives its models, it is taken for granted that the production model will be a little less extreme and more commercial. What we can take for granted is that it will feature exclusive details, in line with the price level and market segment in which Spyker operates.

The original Paris-to-Pekin concept was presented at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show, with the promise of equipping an eventual production model with a Audi V12 engine or a V8 engine, possibly from Chevrolet. Last year, it was even speculated that what remained of Saab would provide technical assistance to Spyker in building the SUV.
