SsangYong Rexton: the SUV updates its performance for 2019
The SsangYong Rexton will include engine updates to meet the Euro6D standard and the WLTP consumption cycle, while still producing 181 CV of power.
The fourth generation of the SsangYong Rexton will receive an update for 2019. This means that the South Korean brand will renew features and performance on the SUV. In this way, it will offer a refreshed power unit, four–wheel drive and changes to the exterior and interior design of the vehicle. It will also be available in up to five different versions and three equipment options. The starting price of the new Rexton will begin at 27,000 euros and will reach a ceiling of almost 45,000 euros.
Euro6D engine and WLTP consumption cycle
Despite the update to the South Korean SUV, it will keep the diesel engine. The model fitted will be the D22 DTR four-cylinder inline, capable of producing 181 CV of power and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. The transmission can be either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic (which allows torque of up to 420 Nm). In addition, thanks to its engine, its towing capacity reaches 3,000 kg braked and 750 kg unbraked .

The updates that SsangYong will apply to its engines will comply with the Euro6D standard and the WLTP cycle. As for its combined consumption, it reaches 7.6 l/100 km and emits 198 grams of CO2 per kilometre. However, the four–wheel drive version increases diesel consumption to 7.8 litres. The Rexton also fits the SCR exhaust gas treatment system and the AdBlue tank.
Off-road design and interior comfort in the SsangYong Rexton
The Asian brand has applied the “Nature-Born 3motion” design in this latest update to the SUV. SsangYong has already used this exterior design in its most recent vehicle launches. Likewise, it has improved the aerodynamics of the SsangYong Rexton in its Pininfarina wind tunnel to give the 2019 update greater balance and dynamism.

In addition, the South Korean brand will keep the ladder-frame chassis. However, it will incorporate a new Quadframe body and frame, which will use more “high-strength” steel for greater robustness. The SUV’s drive can also be four-wheel drive with a low-range transfer case, or rear-wheel drive.
One of the great attractions of the SsangYong Rexton is its generous interior space, which gives passengers greater comfort. This translates into the option of five seats, giving us a 641 litre capacity in the boot. However, the Asian SUV also allows us to fit it with seven seats, increasing the number of passengers it can carry.
SASS driver assistance systems
Safety and driver assistance systems have become an important element in recent years. For this reason, the South Korean brand offers “safety and technology equipment” in which the SASS system stands out. It features automatic emergency braking, unintentional lane departure warning, collision warning, automatic lighting and traffic sign recognition.

As for infotainment, the SsangYong Rexton includes an 8″ HD screen (20.3 cm) with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functions. It also includes the following standard equipment:
- Front and rear daytime running lights.
- LED rear lights and fog lights.
- HID headlights.
- Speed control.
- Six airbags.
- Hill Assist.
- ESP.
- ARP active rollover protection system.
- Light and rain sensor.
- Isofix anchorages.
- Tyre pressure monitoring system.
