On March 6, during the 88th edition of the Geneva Motor Show, the SsangYong stand will be very busy, as the South Korean manufacturer intends to present the e-SIV, which will be the fifth concept they have ever presented. But this will not be the biggest milestone, since SsangYong promises important news with the e-SIV.

In SsangYong’s recent history we have had the opportunity to see four different concepts: the first to open the way was the KEV1, presented in 2010, followed by the KEV2 in 2011 and the e-XIV also a year later, in 2012; it was not until 2015 that they brought us a new concept again, this time the Tivoli EV-R, whose new successor will arrive two years later with the e-SIV.

With the e-SIV we will have a concept that will mark a before and after within SsangYong, since, as the brand states, the e-SIV will define the path to follow for the next generation of electric models and SUVs from SsangYong. It will bring changes that will generate greater interest among consumers, especially regarding sustainable mobility, with a new design language and a major technological equipment.

We do not yet know exactly what all those changes will be that make the SsangYong e-SIV a special concept, but it gives us an idea of where things are heading, given that the initials e-SIV stand for “Electronic Smart Interface Vehicle“. Furthermore, with this concept, SsangYong has set itself the goal of demonstrating that it is capable of creating solutions for sustainable, connected and autonomous mobility. Another clue about what the e-SIV has in store.

The e-SIV will feature an electric motor with a power of 140 kW, together with a battery that delivers 61.5 kWh, as well as an interesting NEDC range of 450 km. For the moment we cannot offer more information; we can simply add that the e-SIV has been classified as a mid-size SUV, in the style of the Korando if we take the current SsangYong range as a reference. To find out more we will have to wait for its presentation in Geneva; for now we must make do with the first teaser images.
