Surprise unveiling of the new Hyundai Accent in Montreal

Last year at this time we already knew that Hyundai was preparing a complete overhaul of the Accent, both for the models it sells in the East and for those sold in other markets. The hatchback silhouette and the saloon model received some minor exterior touch-ups and in dimensions, this time becoming slightly longer and wider in body. It must be said that this presentation at the Montreal Auto Show came as a bit of a surprise, since the fourth generation of the Accent was expected to be shown four months from now.

According to the press release, the Accent’s engine has gained in power and in fuel economy. In North America the Accent made do with the 1.6-litre engine producing 110 horsepower, but now it will enjoy a small increase in power, rising to 138 horsepower, making it the most powerful and lightest model in its class, always speaking of its competition in North America. Another notable gain is its lower fuel consumption compared with the previous model, with figures of 4.7 L/100 km on the highway and 6.4 L/100 km in urban driving.
