Suzuki halts Jimny Nomade orders due to excessive demand

Only a few days ago we announced that Suzuki Suzuki had launched a new version of the Jimny with five doors and slightly larger than the traditional model. This is the Jimny Nomade, and the Japanese brand expected it to be very well received in the Japanese market. It has been so successful that Suzuki has closed the order book indefinitely. The reason is clear: in just four days the production planned for three and a half years has been covered.

What does this mean in real figures? Bookings now total 50,000 units, but the production expectations for the Suzuki Jimny Nomade are 1,200 units per month. At this manufacturing rate, the plant in India where this model is built will take around three and a half years to complete those 50,000 units.

The most recent buyers registered so far will have to wait three and a half years to receive their Jimny Nomade. So, given the model’s success and the current inability to produce more units per month, the brand has decided to stop accepting orders for the time being.

Suzuki has published a statement offering the brand’s apologies and justifying the halt in orders due to not having sufficient production capacity. They also warn that once this problem is resolved, they will notify customers and orders will be able to resume.

The Jimny Nomade is 340 millimetres longer than the three-door Jimny, but it remains compact, measuring 3,890 millimetres. The wheelbase is also longer, so it offers more interior space and greater comfort for occupants. Production takes place at the Gurugram plant in India, and the first deliveries of the Jimny Nomade are scheduled for 3 April. In addition to Japan, this model is also sold in Southeast Asia, South Africa, Latin America and the Middle East.
