Novitec's N-Largo kit now also arrives for the Ferrari 296 GTS

Following its debut on the Ferrari 296 GTB, it is now the 296 GTS that receives the radical N-Largo kit from the German tuner Novitec

The Ferrari 296, whether in coupé bodywork, GTB, or in spider or convertible bodywork, GTS, is one of the best hybrid supercars that anyone with a few thousand euros to spare would want in their garage. If we add to this that the Italian brand is one of the German tuner Novitec‘s favourites, and that we can give it an extra dose of aggression, the 296 is undoubtedly already perfect.

In fact, the Ferrari 296 is already an old acquaintance of Novitec, having passed through its workshops on several occasions, the last of which was last year: first the 296 GTB, followed a few months later by the 296 GTS, and, in the final stretch of the year, with the fitting of the N-Largo kit to the 296 GTB, which always gives cars treated by Novitec an extra dose of radicalness.

History repeats itself, and now it is the turn of the 296 GTS to receive the N-Largo kit, following the same line as its coupé sibling. This means that the exposed carbon fibre (optional, because as standard it is painted the same colour as the rest of the bodywork) becomes even more prominent and important, both in terms of weight and aerodynamics, with new parts such as the modified front bonnet with appendages in combination with the front bumper and splitter, both intended to reduce front axle lift at high speeds.

The new front end has obviously been designed in keeping with the rest of the bodywork, and of course also with respect to the wheel arches, which are 30 mm wider than the standard ones and feature air outlets to evacuate heat from the front brakes. As for its width, this is 120 mm greater than the standard model, something to which the side skirts also contribute, fitting perfectly with the new rear side panels, which have optimised air intakes to improve engine cooling. At the rear, the rear diffuser and the discreet yet eye-catching “duck tail” spoiler are visible, which can be replaced by a more prominent spoiler, as well as other parts such as carbon-fibre mirror housings.

Mechanically, Novitec has lowered the 296 GTS, specifically by 35 mm, with new springs calibrated for this model, and also incorporating a front-axle lift system of 40 mm to clear kerbs and speed bumps, which can be activated from the cabin at the touch of a button. This reduction in height also serves to frame the Novitec N-Largo forged wheels created by Vossen perfectly, measuring 21 inches at the front and 22 inches at the rear.

As for its hybrid engine, it is standard-fitted with a 3,300 cc twin-turbo V6 block and an MGU-K installed between the engine and the 8-speed DCT gearbox, delivering 830 CV. This output, like that of the other Novitec kits for the Ferrari 296, is increased to 868 CV thanks to modifications such as a bespoke intake, a new high-performance exhaust line made of stainless steel or optionally Inconel (both with the option of butterfly valves that vary the sound), changes to the turbo and a new 100-cell metallic catalytic converter.
