The Suzuki Jimny Pro, the commercial variant of the Japanese off-roader, starts sales in Spain
The Suzuki Jimny returns to the brand’s European lineup and starts sales in its Pro version, as a professional vehicle to get around emissions regulations

As you may recall, in early 2020 Suzuki surprised everyone with the removal of the Jimny from its lineup, one of the few pure off-roaders still around today, capable of tackling the most demanding terrain, because its pollutant emissions far exceeded the latest regulations set by the European Union. But fortunately Suzuki found a solution that allowed the Jimny to go back on sale in Europe.
The 95 g/km pollutant emissions restrictions apply to passenger cars, while compact commercial vehicles are an exception within this regulation, so Suzuki opted to modify the Jimny so that it could fall into this vehicle category, thus giving rise to the new Suzuki Jimny Pro, which is now going on sale in Spain.

For the Suzuki Jimny Pro to qualify as a professional vehicle, the Japanese engineers had to make a series of changes to its interior, such as the removal of the rear seats, creating a practical rear cargo area with a flat floor separated from the two front seats by a grille. The rear now offers a cargo volume of 863 litres, which is 33 litres more than the previous passenger version with the rear seats folded down. They also took the opportunity to redesign the centre console buttons so they can be used easily while wearing gloves.
It is worth noting that the Suzuki Jimny Pro is homologated as an N1 van, so it cannot be used as a taxi, driving school vehicle, school or minors’ transport. It will also have to pass the MOT more often and sooner than a passenger car: from two to six years old it must go every two years, from six to ten years every year, and after ten years every six months. In addition, its maximum permitted speed will be 90 km/h on motorways and dual carriageways and 80 km/h on conventional roads. Also bear in mind that it cannot be reclassified from N1 to M1, even if it is done as a conversion.

The Suzuki Jimny Pro is mechanically paired with a 1,500 cc petrol engine producing 102 CV and 130 Nm of torque, working together with a five-speed manual gearbox with a reduction gear, complemented by the Allgrip Pro system. The Jimny Pro now has a combined consumption of 7.7 l/100 km along with CO2 emissions of 173 g/km, while its top speed is 145 km/h.
In terms of equipment, the Suzuki Jimny Pro keeps the same safety systems as the passenger version, including predictive brake control, descent control and hill hold control, as well as the eCall emergency call system. The only extra-cost option is the Jungle Green colour, at an additional cost of 345 euros. The new Jimny Pro is now on sale in Spain at a starting price of 20,970 euros, excluding the registration tax.
