Tata Motors has exercised the purchase option it held over the 79% stake in Hispano Carrocera, adding it to the 21% of the company’s shares the Indian giant already owned. This purchase was carried out by mutual agreement and demonstrates the commitment of Tata to the Spanish company.

The Indian brand will continue along the line of improving operational efficiency. To this end, it will focus on boosting productivity, reducing costs, developing new products, and so on, with the aim of increasing the company’s market share and enhancing the value of the brand. Tata Motors is confident that Hispano will emerge in the bus and coach market, both nationally and globally.

Tata is the first car brand in India, with more than 4 million passenger cars on Indian roads, and is the third-largest manufacturer of passenger transport vehicles . It is also the fourth-largest truck producer worldwide and holds the second place in buses. Tata’s cars, buses and trucks are sold in several countries across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, South and Southeast Asia, and South America.

Hispano Carrocera is a coach and bus manufacturer with two plants: one in Zaragoza and another in Morocco with an annual production of around 2,000 units.
