Tesla announces significant improvements to its vehicles with the spring software update
Once again, Tesla highlights how important it is to have OTA software updates in your vehicle, so that new features and improvements are gradually added over time
If you have a Tesla, congratulations! The American manufacturer has just announced the imminent availability of a new and comprehensive software update for its vehicles, with significant improvements that we list below.
First of all, all the company’s vehicles equipped with an AMD chip (that is, those produced from 2022 onwards) will now receive a new user interface. The company has wanted to highlight the new immersive display of the vehicle when it is parked, with direct access to various functions. Additionally, the media player controls have also been improved, with much faster access to recently played tracks, favourites and those queued up in a playlist.

Tesla has also announced an improvement to the Auto Shift feature – although it remains in beta – which affects all vehicles of the brand that lack steering-wheel paddles. According to the company, Auto Shift can now switch automatically between Drive and Reverse depending on everything surrounding the vehicle.
Listen to audiobooks while driving
The spring software update from Tesla will also come with a new Audible app, Amazon’s audiobook service. Likewise, the Spotify app has also been improved, and it now allows any content to be played at a higher speed.
The American manufacturer has also announced a new feature called “Hands-Free Trunk“, which, as its name suggests, allows you to open the boot without using your hands when they are full. For example, when you leave the supermarket loaded with shopping bags. It is true that many vehicles today have a system like this, which generally works by moving your foot under the rear bumper until it is detected and the boot then opens.

Tesla has, however, wanted to go one step further this time. By using the ultra-wideband chip integrated in the manufacturer’s most recent models, it is now possible to detect the driver’s exact position with great precision when the vehicle is stationary. In this way, it will no longer be necessary to move your foot under the rear bumper as in many other vehicles from other brands; instead, when the vehicle detects that we are near the boot and we keep that position for a few moments, the boot will open automatically.
Finally, although Tesla has revealed the improvements that the spring software update brings to its vehicles, we do not yet know when it will be available. In any case, it is expected that it will soon start reaching the first customers, with availability gradually expanding over the following weeks.
