Tesla could begin Cybertruck deliveries with just 10 units

If so, the situation could be similar to what happened, for example, with the Tesla Semi, of which only a handful of units were delivered on a token basis

With just over a week to go until the official unveiling of the American manufacturer’s new electric pickup, at which point the first deliveries will also take place, the question arises of how many lucky holders of a reservation will sit behind the wheel of their new Cybertruck that day.

At a recent event held this past week in Mexico, Javier Verdura, Tesla’s current Global Director of Product Design, made some comments that could answer that question. These statements, however, lead us to think that the roughly two million customers holding a reservation will probably have to be quite patient before making their dream come true.

Tesla Cybertruck Black Side

In relation to this matter, Mexican media report that in the speech Verdura gave in Monterrey, he recalled the success Tesla has achieved in recent years, saying that the future looks even more promising. In fact, he even went so far as to predict that by 2026 the sales volume of electric vehicles will for the first time exceed that of vehicles with combustion engines. A reality that, if it comes to pass, will be a golden opportunity for Tesla to substantially increase its sales.

We didn’t expect this

Verdura also referred, and this is what really interests us, to the upcoming Cybertruck unveiling event taking place on November 30. After recalling that the Cybertruck’s commercialization will officially begin that day, he concluded this comment by saying that it will be then that “the first ten units will be delivered“.

Although the truth is that Tesla has not officially disclosed how many Cybertruck units will be delivered on November 30 and, therefore, there could be more. It is also true that Verdura is a senior executive of the company who will surely be aware of the company’s plans in this area, so there is no reason at all to doubt his statement.

Tesla Cybertruck Black Back

On previous occasions, Elon Musk himself has already warned that the number of units of the company’s new electric pickup leaving the assembly line will be quite limited initially, because of how complex its production is at scale. Especially regarding its innovative stainless steel exoskeleton. Meeting all the demand will therefore take quite a long time, and this could end up frustrating more than one customer holding a reservation.
