Model Y Tesla Sedans Electric Cars
Tesla gains ground after announcing it has already built four million units
The milestone of four million cars built suggests that Tesla will reach 6 million by the end of 2023 and produce 2 million a year

Tesla continues to alternate good and bad news, with several negative reports in the media and others that seem to show that it is gaining ground in the automotive market with new milestones achieved. The latest of these is the production of over four million electric cars by the brand. This was announced at the latest Investor Day, an annual event at which the company’s investors receive detailed reports on the business.
This four-millionth unit rolled off the production line at the Texas Gigafactory. It was a Tesla Model Y, which received special treatment from the plant’s workers. It was also the star of a commemorative video, which highlighted the factory and the work of its employees, who were also honoured.

Fifteen years of work
To reach this milestone, the brand has had to work hard over 15 years. That was when the Tesla Roadster was launched, the first vehicle the brand sold. It took until April 2020 to reach the first million cars built. From that date on, the company’s growth has accelerated and it has taken about three years to reach four million cars produced.
It is curious that it took Tesla twelve years to reach the first million units, whereas going from three to four million has required only seven months of work. The company has been growing strongly in recent years and the outlook is quite optimistic.
Tesla has announced the opening of a new Gigafactory in Nuevo León, Mexico, which will join those located in the United States, Berlin and the Chinese Gigafactory. With all these plants running, the brand is expected to reach production of between 1.8 and 2 million vehicles a year. At that production rate, it could reach 6 million vehicles by the end of this year.
Production keeps rising, and Tesla is expected to reach a production rate of 20 million cars a year . In other words, output could be multiplied by ten in a short time, provided sales keep pace with that rate.
