Tesla's V4 Superchargers begin to gain popularity in North America
Today, according to users, these V4 Superchargers already allow the range of Tesla’s current models to be increased by 40 percent in just 10 minutes
Following the European debut earlier this year of Tesla’s new V4 Superchargers, the American manufacturer has also begun expanding its charging network in its home market by deploying this new technology. Today, according to users, Tesla already has stations with this type of Supercharger in Oregon, Nevada, Alabama and also in Atlanta, where a new station with 16 V4 Superchargers has just opened.
As in Europe, these new charging points are easily identifiable by their greater height and design change. As expected, there are hardly any differences between those installed here in Europe and those in North America. The only notable modification is the type of connectors used as a result of the different charging standards in each market.

As in Europe, Tesla’s V4 Superchargers also feature a credit card reader and a small information screen. The cable length is likewise longer than usual, just under 3 metres, about one metre more than on the previous V2 and V3 generation chargers.
Improvements in charging power will arrive over time
As for its technical specifications, some published images indicate that they support a maximum of 1,000 watts and 615 amperes, which would theoretically allow charging at up to 615 kW. However, it is not clear whether the charging points installed so far have all the components needed to deliver that power.
Some tests carried out by owners of Tesla vehicles show performance very similar to that of the V3 Superchargers, with charging peaks reaching 255 kW. These same users report that these V4 Superchargers currently allow the battery charge to be increased from 20 to 60 percent in just 10 minutes.

Tesla appears to intend to offer charging powers of 350 kW on these V4 Superchargers in the not-too-distant future, although this will probably require some technical modifications to the hardware or a software update.
Finally, the new V4 Supercharger station in Atlanta has a charging area for vehicles towing a trailer, which avoids the need for complicated manoeuvres to connect the cable to the vehicle and start charging.
