The 10 millionth Dacia rolls off the production line! On 20 April, the brand belonging to the Renault group put the finishing touches on a Dacia Duster Extreme LE in Urban Grey. This vehicle is the 10 millionth unit produced by the Romanian car manufacturer since its founding in 1968.

It took Dacia 17 years to build its first million cars and another 13 years to reach 2 million vehicles produced. In 2014, after the brand was acquired by Renault, the company had produced five million vehicles and needed only eight more years to build another five million.

Denis Le Vot, CEO of Dacia and Lada, said: “We are very proud to have passed the symbolic milestone of 10 million vehicles produced. This result rewards a pragmatic vision of the automobile, focused on what is truly essential for our customers. Building on this experience, Dacia will continue to grow and offer attractive vehicles that suit our customers’ lifestyles.”

The first vehicle the brand produced was the Dacia 1100, whose production began in August 1968. The following year, the company presented the Dacia 1300 and a family of derivatives that were enormously popular and remained in production for 35 years. During that time, the company built 2.3 million units of the Dacia 1300, leaving a distinctive mark on the Romanian automotive landscape.

Renault acquired Dacia in 1999, opening a new chapter for it and opening it up to international markets. The Dacia Sandero and the Dacia Sandero Stepway have been the best-selling vehicles to private customers in Europe since 2017, and the company has built 2.6 million of them since their introduction in 2008. It has also built 2.1 million Dacia Duster and 1.95 million Dacia Logan since their launch.

As a result, Dacia has opened several factories outside Romania and Europe, and its models are now sold in 44 countries.
