The 20-cent-per-litre fuel discount comes into force on 1 April
The 20-cent-per-litre fuel discount will come into force on 1 April.

The 20-cent-per-litre fuel discount comes into force on 1 April. This is what the Royal Decree-Law containing the measures to be adopted to deal with the situation we are living through states. According to official sources, the document seeks to “protect the sectors and citizens most affected through five pillars”, such as aid for families, workers and displaced persons.
The discount of 20 cents per litre will apply to petrol, diesel, AdBlue and other fuels such as LPG and CNG, etc. This 20-cent reduction per litre of fuel purchased consists of a 15-cent discount funded by the State and the remaining five cents funded by the oil companies. This can be increased: for example, Repsol, Cepsa and BP offer discounts ranging between 10 and 14 cents.
Which fuels will receive the discount?

It is important to note that no distinction will be made between fuels. This is the list of products included in Section 3 of Article 15 of Royal Decree-Law 6/2022, of 29 March, published in the Official State Gazette (BOE):
- Petrol: G95E5, G95E10, G95E5+, G98E5 and G98E10.
- Standard automotive diesel or diesel A (GOA) and improved automotive diesel or diesel A+ (GOA+)
- Diesel B (GOB)
- Marine diesel (MGO)
- LPG (liquefied petroleum gases for vehicle propulsion)
- CNG (compressed natural gas for vehicle propulsion)
- LNG (liquefied natural gas for vehicle propulsion)
- Bioethanol.
- Biodiesel.
- Petrol blends with bioethanol or diesel blends with biodiesel that require specific labelling.
It should also be added that “the purchase of the AdBlue additive, as defined in the ISO 22241 standard, will also be eligible for the discount regulated in this chapter”. Petrol stations will apply the discount at the time of payment. This measure will remain in force until 30 June and will come into effect next Friday, 1 April.

We will now have to wait until Friday to see whether the discount is actually applied, since some petrol stations have raised fuel prices between yesterday and today so that the reduction is barely noticeable to consumers. If you refuel on Friday, let us know what you thought and whether you noticed any difference when filling your tank.
