Taking as its reference the updated brand image of Bentley, the manufacturer’s first SUV refreshes its look in a Bentley Bentayga 2021 that takes on more of the image of a luxury saloon than a crossover.

Either way, it is still the now-customary and almost obligatory commercial restyle that forces customers to part with a good sum of pounds to acquire the latest rugged yet luxurious SUV model from the Crewe marque.

At the front, it has lighting units that lose some of their elitist aura, despite being made up of as many as 82 LED light diodes per headlamp. Elsewhere, it fits a new bumper and a grille that is smaller in size, making its frontal appearance more dynamic and incisive.

It is at the rear where the new Bentley Bentayga really looks like a different vehicle compared with the model still on sale.

Oval lights set into the flanks of the broad new tailgate, which now spans the full width of the SUV and widens the rear track by 20 mm, draw the eye, along with the brand logo, and tone down the more eye-catching visual details of a 2021 Bentley Bentayga that is rather unattractive aesthetically.

Touches that justify a general update

As for the cabin, besides introducing technological novelties such as the new 10.9-inch screen for the occupants’ infotainment system, which can be operated through the already well-established Apple CarPlay and, as a novelty, also Android Auto.

Since the instrument panel is also a screen, it sits behind the equally novel steering wheel, alongside wireless inductive charging pads for mobile devices.

The dashboard features new air vents for the new air-conditioning system, now with an ionizer, and keeps the customary luxury clock with aeronautical motifs, as befits the Breitling house, while new seats and materials are present in, for example, the upholstery and the layout of the door panels.

As for the rear seats, besides featuring a 5-inch tablet that lets you operate the infotainment system, the interior space for up to three occupants in the back row increases by between 3 and 10 cm thanks to seat adjustments.

Mechanically, it will keep its three options: one with the 549 CV V8 engine, another with the monumental W12 of the Bentley Bentayga Speed with 635 horsepower, and the most moderate and sustainable version, the Bentley Bentayga Hybrid with 449 CV.

The price of the new Bentley Bentayga has not yet been confirmed, but the most basic version will start from around 175,000 euros.
