The new Nettuno engine, the heart of the Maserati MC20

Maserati is ready to present the new engine it has designed in the laboratories Maserati Innovation Lab on Via Emilia Ovest and the workshops on Via Delle Nazioni to bring to life the new Maserati MC20. It was developed at the Engine Hub, located at the factory on Viale Ciro Menotti, where Maserati has traditionally been Maserati Corsa. And in that same factory where the new MC20 will be manufactured and fitted with this engine, specially created to let the car show its potential.

With this engine the Italian brand returns to Modena at full power and has developed the block using all its experience, its technological capability and its knowledge of powerful, high-quality mechanics. Modena is the base of the Maserati MC20, which has been entirely designed and developed in the Italian city with the intention of opening a new chapter for the trident brand.

A new chapter for the Italian brand

This new chapter for Maserati begins on 9 and 10 September, with the event MMXX: The time to be audacious, where the new models that will enter the market in the coming years will be presented. The new propulsion systems, developed for those innovative models, will also have their moment during the presentation event.

The new engine is a twin-turbo block with a 90º V6 configuration and 3.0 litres. It will use a dry-sump lubrication system, which is typically found in high-end sports cars. It will deliver 630 CV at 7,500 rpm. and a maximum torque of 730 Nm from 3,000 rpm, making it a supercar with high performance. The compression ratio is 11:1, it has a stroke of 82 mm and a bore of 88 mm.

The technology coming from Formula 1 brings a pre-chamber combustion system with double spark plug, debuting in a road car and offering a driving experience that is guaranteed to be very spectacular for anyone who takes the wheel of the Maserati MC20.

This new and revolutionary engine has three main features. The first is the combustion chamber, located between the central spark plug and the main combustion chamber, connected through a communication network specific to the engine. The second is a side spark plug that ensures correct combustion when the car does not need the pre-chamber to run.

Finally, the dual injection system, with direct and indirect injection, which is coupled with the pressure of the fuel supply system at 350 bar. This system reduces noise across the entire rev range, lowers emissions and improves consumption.

The new Maserati MC20 thus offers all the power and performance needed to become a remarkable car with spectacular performance. We will see more about this car and its engine as the presentation date approaches.
