BMW is planning to launch 28 new models over the next five years. These novelties will be based on a series of completely new vehicles, as well as several facelifts in the form of restyling. Among the most notable novelties are the new BMW M2 GTS, a Z5 sports car and the new compact SUV: the BMW X2.

The first launch will be the new 5 Series Touring, which will be presented in March at the Geneva Motor Show. Shortly afterwards, the BMW 5 Series GT will be replaced by a 6 Series GT that will use the technology of the current 5 Series. This model will be 100 kg lighter than the vehicle it replaces, and will be offered with four-, six- and eight-cylinder engines with outputs between 190 CV and 465 CV.

On the other hand, the Bavarian brand will expand its range of SUV models with the launch of the new BMW X2. This compact crossover will be offered with the same low-displacement engines as the X1. The next generation of the X3 will also reach the market in 2017 and will be the first SUV from the brand built on the new CLAR platform; the anticipated BMW X7 will also be built on this platform, specifically at the Spartanburg plant in the USA.

The German manufacturer’s production of new models seems set to be unlimited in 2017. BMW plans to launch two new sports cars in the second half of the year: M5 and M2 GTS. In the case of the former, we know it will feature all-wheel drive and will mount a twin-turbo V8 engine of 4.4 litres and more than 600 CV of power. For its part, the M2 GTS will offer a modified version of the 3-litre turbo engine of the standard M2, which will raise its power to 400 CV.

Next year will also be quite fruitful for BMW in terms of new releases. The Bavarian brand will launch a new sports car, the BMW Z5, which is being developed alongside Toyota and the next generation of the Supra. The BMW 8 Series will be revived by the German brand to compete directly with the Mercedes S-Class Coupé; in 2020 it will offer a convertible variant. The 3 Series and the X5 will also receive new generations in 2018.
