The 5-door and Station Wagon bodies complete the Fiat Tipo range

Gama Fiat Tipo (2)Fiat Tipo range

The first body style that Fiat launched for this model was the three-box saloon, of which more than 35,000 units have already been sold. Now the 5-door and Station Wagon bodies join it to complete the new Fiat Tipo range. It has won the prestigious Autobest “Best Buy Car 2016” award, awarded by a jury of 26 journalists from the most important European car magazines. Both versions will be available in Easy and Lounge trim levels.

The 5-door version has a length of 4.37 m, a width of 1.79 m and a height of 1.50 m, while the Station Wagon is 20 cm longer, reaching 4.57 m in length, with a height of 1.51 m thanks to the standard-adjustment longitudinal roof bars, while the width remains unchanged compared with the 5-door body. Load capacity is 440 litres for the 5-door version and 550 litres for the Station Wagon.

The exterior styling of both follows the design language of fluid, dynamic lines already introduced with the 4-door body. The front stands out for its horizontal mesh grille trimmed with chrome accents and the LED daytime running lights. The biggest differences are at the rear, as the 5-door Tipo has a compact, sporty silhouette, while the Station Wagon offers a very spacious rear. Eight body colours are available: Gelato White, Maestro Grey, Colosseo Grey, Sabbia Pearl, Magnetic Bronze, Passione Red, Mediterranean Blue and Cinema Black.

These two new additions to the Fiat Tipo range come equipped with the latest technology, and also feature a very comprehensive standard specification from the entry-level versions. They debut the Uconnect 7″ HD LIVE system, which has a 7″ colour touchscreen that the user can operate as if it were a tablet.

This state-of-the-art system includes hands-free Bluetooth, audio streaming, voice recognition and text-to-speech reading, USB and AUX ports with iPod integration, steering-wheel controls and, on request, a rear-view camera and the new integrated 3D navigation system from TomTom. Smartphone connectivity with the car via CarPlay and Android Auto will also be available on the Uconnect 7″ HD LIVE in the near future.

With the free Uconnect LIVE app, available from the App Store and Google Play, users can enjoy music streaming with Deezer and TuneIn, news from Reuters, connected navigation with TomTom LIVE, Facebook Check-in and Twitter. In addition, the car’s environmental performance can be monitored with eco:Drive and my:car.

As for active and passive safety, the car features modern systems such as: six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ESC, the Panic Brake Assist (PBA) system, which increases braking force during emergency stops, ABS, traction control (TCS), which detects wheel slip during acceleration and reduces engine torque to correct it, and the Hill Holder system or hill-start assist. Also available are cruise control and adaptive cruise control, and the Full Brake Control System, which brakes the car automatically to prevent accidents if the driver does not react, rear parking sensors and a rear camera.

The latter two come with a Start&Stop system. These engines can be paired with a five-speed manual gearbox (for the 1.3 MultiJet II), a six-speed manual gearbox (for the rest), and a dual-clutch automatic gearbox (for the 120 CV 1.6 MultiJet II). All comply with Euro 6 emissions standards.
