The Aiways U6 is being fine-tuned ahead of its arrival in Europe

The Aiways U6, which has been developed together with companies such as Bosch and Prodrive, has already covered 400,000 kilometres in just 240 days.

Prototypes of the Aiways U6 have entered the final testing phase ahead of its launch on the European market. To validate the demanding development programme set from the brand’s headquarters in China, the final tests are now underway, including high-speed motorway driving.

For a development engineer, endurance testing is perhaps the most complex aspect when launching a new vehicle. During the final phase, not only are gigabytes of data collected from a wide variety of sensors, but the endurance test also allows comparison with the digital development carried out in a virtual space. The Aiways U6 was already represented in digital prototypes years before the first real vehicle was tested. These interdisciplinary calculation models ensure that the system properties and the positioning of components in the future vehicle are reproduced accurately.

Aiways’ Artificial Intelligence (AI), under the concept of AI-Tech, encompasses not only the virtual development environment but also the development of processes and simulation methods. “The goal is to achieve even faster and more flexible development, especially given the great variability of production according to the Industry 4.0 standard at Aiways’ plant in Shangrao, one of the most modern car production facilities in China,” said Dr. Alexander Klose, Executive Vice President of Overseas Operations at Aiways. AI-Tech is also synonymous with systems intelligently integrated into the vehicle and aims to highlight the high speed of product development at Aiways.

Prototypes of the new model have already arrived in Munich and are undergoing the final validations and road tests. The greater acceleration capability of the Aiways U6 has required an optimisation of the braking system. For this reason, the second-generation iBooster with ESP hev brake regulation system, developed together with Bosch, not only guarantees reactions three times faster and maximum energy recovery, but above all short braking distances.

With 34.4 metres measured from 100 km/h, the Aiways U6 offers its passengers excellent active safety. In addition to road tests, the prototypes are also undergoing a demanding certification programme to allow a rapid launch on the European market before the end of the year.
