The app that diagnoses car faults from engine noise
This application is designed to detect engine sound and, thanks to a sound bank of similar engines, makes a diagnosis by comparing sounds.

Detecting any engine problem is something any driver can do thanks to their knowledge of the vehicle. We have all sensed that something was not right with the car when noticing an unusual sound while driving, or perhaps some strange behaviour from the car at certain moments. Now comes an app that can warn that something is wrong with the engine, and it does so using sound alone.
The app Skoda Sound Analyzer has been launched by the brand and will listen to the car’s engine. Thanks to a sound bank containing various types of engines running, it can compare how our car sounds and detect certain problems in it. With this application it will be possible to detect whether there is any kind of problem or fault in the DSG clutch, in the air conditioning or even a failure in the steering.

A support tool for the workshop
The applications of this app are quite significant and will allow workshops to understand well what type of fault is bringing the car to the workshop and reduce diagnosis time. This translates into less time spent in the workshop and considerable help for the mechanics who have to work on it.
Sound Analyzer is capable of detecting ten specific engine problems and, according to the company, with a reliability of 90%. This could make it a very efficient tool for reducing time spent in the workshop.
The app created by Skoda works with artificial intelligence, which means that as it is used more and more, it will learn and be able to expand its scope. In this way, it will be able to recognise more problems and become much more useful. That said, on the downside we must point out that it has been developed by a single brand, so its benefits are limited to models from that same brand.
Only some models of Skoda can benefit from the features of the Sound Analyzer app, so it is worth checking whether the model you drive is one of those that can be checked with it. For the time being, it is in the testing phase in France, Germany, Austria and Russia and is not available in our country, although it is only a matter of time before it is ready to use in Spain.
