The Audi A1 Citycarver starts sales from €24,230 and will have a special launch edition

Last summer Audi offered an interesting crossover version of its city car, inspired by the brand’s Q models but which could almost be said to resemble the Allroad variants more closely. It is the A1 Citycarver, a model that now takes on a more “rugged” character to be able to leave the hustle and bustle of the city from time to time, and which is finally going on sale in Spain.

Apart from a distinctive look supported by new specific bumpers with lower protections, as well as a new Singleframe grille inspired by Audi’s Q models, the new A1 Citycarver will be able to venture off the beaten track thanks to necessary mechanical changes. To this end, a ground clearance that increases by just over 4 cm compared with an A1 Sportback has been achieved, of which 35 mm are due to suspension modifications, in addition to tyres with taller sidewalls.

As with the rest of the A1 range, the A1 Citycarver also allows extensive customisation to suit our tastes and preferences. Up to new colours will be available to order for the bodywork, which, when ordered, can be fitted with a contrasting roof in Mythos Black metallic or Manhattan Grey metallic. As standard, the lower body elements are painted in grey tones, but Audi also offers the black style pack, in which these become black with a stainless steel paint finish.

Once inside the Audi A1 Citycarver we will enjoy the same standard and optional equipment as the Sportback version, with a choice of trim levels Basic, Advance, Design Edition and S Line, which, in addition to the elements they include as standard, also allow us, just as with the exterior, to add our personal touch as we wish, optionally, with both colours and materials. It should also be said that, despite its urban orientation, the A1 Citycarver and the rest of the range are perfectly suitable for travelling thanks to their roominess, which is especially evident in the rear seats and in the 335-litre boot capacity, expandable to 1,090 litres if the seats are folded down.

In terms of technology, even from the base version of the A1 Citycarver we get interesting equipment, with features including a 10.25-inch high-resolution display for the instrument cluster, a multifunction steering wheel and the MMI radio infotainment system. Naturally, depending on the chosen trim and the extras we want to fit, we can have a more or less technology-rich A1 Citycarver, such as by choosing the Audi Virtual Cockpit, the MMI Navigation plus infotainment system or Audi connect online services, as well as numerous driver assistance and support systems.

Mechanically, from launch the Audi A1 Citycarver can be specified with three petrol engines. The first corresponds to the A1 Citycarver 25 TFSI, which uses a 1.0 three-cylinder unit producing 95 CV, with a combined consumption of 6 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 136 g/km; the same engine is used for the A1 Citycarver 30 TFSI with its output increased to 116 CV, so combined consumption is set at 6.7 l/100 km and CO2 emissions at 152 g/km; the final option is the four-cylinder 1.5-litre engine of the A1 Citycarver 35 TFSI, which produces 150 CV and includes cylinder deactivation.

The new Audi A1 Citycarver can now be ordered in the Spanish market with a starting price of €24,230. Finally, in the coming weeks a special launch edition called “Edition One” will be available, which can be chosen in Flecha Grey or Pulso Orange, and which features 18-inch wheels, darkened front and rear lights and exclusive interior equipment based on the S Line trim. The Edition One version of the A1 Citycarver can only be chosen with the 116 CV 1.0 TFSI engine or the 150 CV 1.5 TFSI engine.
