The Audi Q4 e-tron improves its charging times and adds new connectivity options

After almost two years on the market, the Audi Q4 e-tron is announcing updates, some of them very interesting, such as reduced charging times

Since 2020 Audi has offered the Q4 e-tron in its standard bodystyle, to which a year later the Sportback variant was added, giving it a more sporty, coupé-like look. Very shortly after that, we had the chance to test it, and it left us with a very good impression, placing it at the top of the electric vehicles we have been able to drive. Now the Q4 e-tron receives updates, some of them very significant in scope.

Faster charging times and a new styling package

As we reported at the time, the Audi Q4 e-tron is available in two versions: Q4 40 e-tron and Q4 50 e-tron. The first offers an optional 76.6 kWh battery with a net capacity, while the second comes with it as standard. Now, thanks to an update introduced by Audi, the software that manages the battery’s control and thermal management systems has been optimised, reducing charging times.

Now both versions, regardless of the bodystyle chosen, can charge at up to 135 kW. As a result, going from 5% to 80% charge, the Audi Q4 40 e-tron is able to cut the time by 29 minutes, while the Audi Q4 50 e-tron reduces it by 36 minutes.

In addition, to give it an extra sporty edge, the Black Optic Plus package is now available for the Black Edition trim, which paints black elements such as the Singleframe grille surround and its inner area, the Audi wheel rims, the inserts of both the front and rear bumpers, and the side window trim. Finally, all versions of the Audi Q4 e-tron can now be finished in black paint, something that until now was reserved for the Edition One.

Alexa integration and new myAudi app features

One of the standout features of the Audi Q4 e-tron’s interior is the screen used for the infotainment system, measuring 11.6 inches, the largest screen Audi has used in its vehicles. This infotainment system now benefits from the integration of Alexa, allowing users, together with Audi Connect, to manage their calendar or to-do lists by voice and even control compatible smart home devices from the car itself.

Finally, the myAudi app, which manages various functions of the Q4 e-tron, receives new features:

  • It allows routes planned previously in the app to be conveniently sent to the car.
  • The “Route Planner” can now automatically schedule charging stops based on traffic conditions, taking into account the driver’s individual consumption profile.
  • It allows you to set a charging target, so that when the charge level you have requested is reached, you receive a notification on your smartphone that the target has been met.
