The Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 has won the Villa d'Este 2015 design award

Choosing the most elegant, beautiful and best-designed car at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este is always a difficult task. Even though the judging panel divides the competition into several categories based on various characteristics, I don’t envy them the job, because in this beauty contest on wheels you can see some truly spectacular models. Even so, there is always one that stands out from the rest and draws everyone’s gaze.

This year, the model chosen as worthy of the Prototype and Concept Car Design Award, a prize that usually goes to a study that breaks all the rules and is a type of car we will most likely never see on the roads, has been the Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6.

This year, the cars that competed in this category and, at least, those that drew the most attention were this one, but also the Zagato Maserati Mostro, which we already had the chance to see in a previous article, and the 3.0 CSL Hommage, although they were not the only ones competing for this award. Aston Martin, Carrozzeria Touring, Lamborghini, Scuderia Glickenhaus and Magna Steyr were also in the running, so this Bentley must be truly special.

According to the jury, the award was to be collected by Luc Donckerwolke, Bentley’s Design Director. The jury felt that the EXP 10 Speed 6 “represented the iconic design of Bentley fused with progressive craftsmanship“, so there was no complaint on that score. The model features a spectacular cabin, as one would expect from a car of this prestigious brand, yet it surprises with its simplicity and look.

As for the engine, we know it has a hybrid system which, should its move to production be confirmed, will become a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, although they do not say whether the interior design will remain the same or be made more conventional. Either way, no one can take away the award that recognises the elegance of its design. You can see it in detail in the image gallery and the video that accompanies the post.
