The best drag race in the world returns with more than 6,000 hp
The Motor Trend team launches a new edition of the best drag race in the world.
The time has come! The “World’s Greatest Drag Race” has reached its eighth edition and, as could not be otherwise, the colleagues at Motor Trend have brought together this year some of the best sports cars on the market.
12 contenders: more than 6,000 CV of power

This time, the drag race took place at Vandenberg Air Force Base (Santa Barbara, USA). The major competitors in this test are the following: McLaren 720S, Porsche 911 GT2 RS, Dodge Challenger RT Scat Pack 1320, Honda Civic Type R, Lamborghini Huracan Performante, BMW M5, Ford Mustang GT Performance Pack Level 2, Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio, Kia Stinger GT, Audi TT RS, Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, Aston Martin Vantage. The video also features an Mazda MX-5, but for obvious reasons it does not take part in the quarter-mile race. In total, the test features 12 cars, whose engines add up to more than 6,000 CV of power.

The victory? A matter of McLaren, Porsche and Lamborghini
Considering the line-up of participants, it seems obvious that victory will lie in the hands of three cars: the McLaren, Porsche and Lamborghini. The SUV segment is represented this year by the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio, a crossover that (spoiler alert!) puts up a great fight against its rivals in this quarter-mile race. The BMW M5 also deserves special mention in this video thanks to its 600 CV of power and its all-wheel-drive system (the first time the saloon does not feature the classic rear-wheel drive of the BMW).
Who will win? There is only one way to find out…
