The most renowned German tuners gathered at the legendary Nardo ring to unleash their horsepower and showcase their most representative models. There are two annual events of this kind, organised by Autobild or Auto Motor und Sport.

The surprise came from the Mercedes GLK prepared by Brabus. Could an SUV exceed 300 km/h? Not only could it, but it went well beyond that with the help of the brutal V12 5.5 engine, on this occasion enlarged to 6.3 litres. With 750 CV available to the GLK, not even its unfavourable aerodynamic shape prevented it from reaching 322 km/h (ahead of the Techart Cayenne or the Audi R8 from ABT).

At that speed, the GLK becomes a double-edged sword in terms of stability. Brabus added a rear spoiler and widened the bodywork by five centimetres. The rest includes what one would expect from a vehicle like this: larger-diameter brakes, suspension that helps keep the “brick” glued to the road, and wheels suited to the occasion.

As much as its top speed, it is its price. This Brabus GLK will cost 397,000 euros, a lovely Christmas present fit for an Arab sheikh.
